ALLENTOWN, PA - Jackie McCaffrey of New Jersey Institute of Technology led the Highlanders in the 2007 CTC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Desales University this weekend.
McCaffrey, who picked up four points for the Highlanders in the 3,000 meter race walk finished fifth with a time of 20:31.30. She finished 12th in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:17.85.
Freshman sprinter Lesley Hendricks finished in the top 10 in the finals of the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.24. Hendricks clocked in with a time of 27.56 in the 200 meter dash placing 16th. Teammate Iulia Doci placed 33rd.
Jumper, Kasha Hornstein broke her old high jump record of 1.29m which she set at the Highlanders Invitational on April 7, and finished 15th at the CTC Championship with a jump of 4'6. In the women's long jump, Hornstein posted a jump of 10'7, finishing in the top 20. Teammate Ashley Craig finished 13th with a jump of 11'11.
In the women's shot put, Eti Ebewo and Denaya Hemmingway finished side by side with throws of 31'00 and 30'07 respectively.
Freshman Taiwo Oyelola placed in the top 10 in the finals of the javelin with a distance of 81-06.
The Highlanders return to action on Sunday, April 29 in New Haven, CT at the Yale Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 9:00am.
