ST. LOUIS, MO - This week's Missouri Valley Conference softball Player and Pitcher of the Week are Lindsay Larry of Drake and Amanda Hess of the University of Northern Iowa.

Hess stormed out of the gates in her Division I debut, throwing 15 innings without surrendering an earned run and earning two wins.

Hess earned her first collegiate win with a seven-inning, five-hit, nine-strikeout defeat against Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The freshman topped herself in her next start, shutting down Tulsa's offense with an eight inning four-hitter.

Hess earned two of three Panther wins over the weekend and sits atop the UNI stat sheet in nearly every pitching category.

For the tournament, Hess threw 15 innings, giving up nine hits while striking out nine and posting a zero earned run average.

With these stats, Hess earned a spot on the Metrodome Classic All-Tournament team.
