CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -

            The University of Northern Iowa soccer team's 2007 schedule features road match-ups with in-state foes Iowa and Iowa State, as well as matches against Wisconsin, Air Force and San Jose State.

            After hosting a pair of exhibition games, UNI plays its first three matches on the road, starting with South Dakota State on Aug. 31 followed by a game at North Dakota State on Sept. 2. The Panthers and Cyclones meet in Ames on Sept. 7, before UNI plays UW-Green Bay in the highlighted game of the Kohl's America Cup on Sept. 9 in Waverly. That Panthers have designated the game as the inaugural Kickin' Cancer game, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

            The Panthers travel to Indiana to face IUPUI on Sept. 14, starting a stretch of six road games in 12 days. That includes a Sept. 18 game at Iowa and ends with a game at Wisconsin on Sept. 25.

            The Panthers kick off their Missouri Valley Conference season with a home game against Evansville on Oct. 5. That marks the beginning of a three-game home stand, including an Oct. 7 game against North Dakota State and an Oct. 12 meeting with Illinois State.

            The Panthers take on Drake and Missouri State on the road before returning to the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex on Oct. 21 for UNI's final home game of the season. UNI wraps up the regular season with games against Creighton and South Dakota on Oct. 28-29 in Omaha.

            First-round games of the MVC Tournament will be held on campus sites on Nov. 3, with the rest of the tournament taking place Nov. 9-11 at Evansville.

            "We've really upped the level of competition on our schedule this year," head coach Kathy Kakoyianni-Bering said. "Not only do we play tougher teams, but we have a lot of away games, which will make things tough.

            "I think playing these teams early on is going to help us when we get into MVC play, and it's also going to help this program move to the next level."
