NWCA/CLIFF KEEN NATIONAL DUAL SCHEDULE AND RESULTS:

First Round: #14 UNI 22, #6 Hofstra 14 

Second Round: #5 Lehigh 33, #14 UNI 3

Second Round Consolation:  #12 Central Michigan 21, #14 UNI 18

Emotions ran high at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals today for the Panthers.  UNI upset Hofstra in the first round and then fell to fifth-ranked Lehigh less than three hours later.  In the Panthers' third dual of the day they battled with 12th-ranked Central Michigan, winning the first four matches before falling 21-18 to the Chippawas.

The Panthers defeated three of Hofstra's five ranked wrestlers, going on a streak that started at 149. Jeff Harrison took a big win from fifth-ranked Jon Masa in the dual then Chris Bitetto fought hard in the waning seconds for his 8-7 victory at 157. Nick Baima continued UNI's run at 165, defeating 13th-ranked Mike Patrovich and senior Eric Hauan wrapped up 10th-ranked Paul Siemon.

UNI fell to fifth-ranked Lehigh in the second round 33-3.  Jeff Harrison picked up the lone victory for the Panthers in a 10-7 win over Matt Anderson.

In their third dual of the day against Central Michigan, Panthers Chris Helgeson (125), Jeremy Meyer (133), C.J. Ettelson (141) and Jeff Harrison (149) gave UNI a 15-0 advantage.  Unfortately, the following four matches went the Chippawas' way.  Senior 197-pounder Sean Stender evened the dual at 18-all with a win over 19th-ranked Wynn Michalak.  Heavyweight Michael Shedek was unable to overcome his opponent, losing 9-2 in the final match.

The Panthers fall to 4-6 on the season and host top-ranked Oklahoma State in the West Gym Saturday (Jan. 28) at 7:00 p.m.
