THIS WEEK IN PANTHER CROSS COUNTRY

SEPT. 25-OCT. 1

After having two weeks off, the Panther cross country teams will venture to Brookings, S.D., where South Dakota State University will host the SDSU Cross Country Classic. The race will take place this Saturday, September 30, at Edgebrook Golf Course. The women's 5K run is set to begin at 9:45 a.m., with the men's 8K starting at 10:15 a.m. The meet will feature more than 10 teams, including Iowa State, Minnesota and Nebraska.

AT THE BRADLEY OPEN

The Panthers' last run was at the Bradley Open on Friday, September 8. There, the women placed second in the 5K, just six points behind leader Indiana State University. The men finished third in the 8K. Freshman Dorian Ulrey (Port Byran, Ill/Riverdale) led the men's team for the second consecutive week, winning the race in 25:07.59. Junior Dylan Davis (Adel. Iowa/ADM) crossed the finish line at 25:35:36 for sixth place, and junior Chris Lawson (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) finished 14th with a time of 25:58:60. Juniors Andy Schon (Waukon, Iowa/Waukon) and Scott Jedlicka (Tipton, Iowa/Tipton) finished 23rd and 43rd, respectively.

Junior Traci Hawley (Ames, Iowa/Ames) was again UNI's top finisher on the women's side, placing third in 18:22.72. Sophomore Caedryn Schrunk (Spirit Lake, Iowa/Spirit Lake) finished fifth with a time of 18:37.94, and senior Quinn Vermie (Runnels, Iowa/Southeast Polk) took 10th place in 18:50.38. Freshman Andrea Wacker (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) and junior Amanda Huling (Hampton, Iowa/Hampton-Dumont) rounded out UNI's top-five, placing 12th and 17th, respectively.
