Sacramento, Calif. - University of Northern Iowa sophomore Andre Poljanec placed seventh in the pole vault at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships today, earning all-America honors.

The native of Ljubljana, Slovenia jumped 17' 6 ½", earning all-American recognition for the second time this year after placing eighth in the event at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in March.

Junior Yuriy Litvinski (Sliven, Bulgaria) also competed today in the triple jump preliminaries and fell short of making the final cut with a jump of 50' 4". He placed seventh in his respective flight.

UNI wraps up competition tomorrow as sophomore Rachel Jansen (Orange City, Iowa) attempts to earn all-America status in the shot put. Jansen posted a mark of 52'2", which was 11th best in the preliminaries Thursday. The top 12 throwers advanced to Saturday's finals.
