UNI track and field team competes in Drake Relays and Loras Open Today

Final Stats

Indianola, Iowa-- The track and field team is all spread out this weekend, with atheltes competing at both the Drake Relays and Loras College. The Panthers also traveled to Indianola, Iowa to compete in the 2006 Kip Janvrin Simpson College Open, where many UNI runners placed in the top five and improved their personal times.

 

In the women's 5,000 meter run, sophomore Traci Hawley (Ames, Iowa) took fourth place with a time of 17:50.93. Frehsmen Megan Iverson (Sioux City, Iowa) and Lindsay Daugherty (Loveland, Colo.) placed in the top five in their events. Iverson finished fourth in the 400 meters and Daugherty took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.

 

For the men, they performed well in the middle and long distance events. Nathan White (Des Moines, Iowa) ran to a first place victory in the 1,500-meter run. White finished with a time of 3:57.99. Chris Lawson (Ankeny, Iowa) finished third in the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:56.31. Also improving his time and placing fifth was Andy Schon (Waukon, Iowa). Schon ran 9:41.14 in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase.

 

The Panthers wrap up competition at the Drake Relays. Some members of the UNI field team will be competing at the Loras Open.
