March 26, 2007 HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Upon completion of the first two rounds, the Nicholls women's golf team sits in 15th place at the Arkansas-Little Rock/North Texas Golf Classic, held at the Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark.
Tournament co-host Arkansas-Little Rock currently leads the field with a 588, while Missouri State is in second place with a 593. Middle Tennessee State and Texas-El Paso are tied for third place with 602s, while Sam Houston State rounds out the top five with a 603.
Oral Roberts (606) sits in sixth place, as Florida International (613), McNeese State (614) and Toledo (621) fill in at Nos. 7-9, respectively. Tournament co-host North Texas and Texas State are tied for the 10th spot with 622s each.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (623), Wichita State (624), Arkansas State (629), Nicholls (647), Texas-Pan American (659) and UMKC (667) currently round out the remaining 17-team tournament field.
Texas-El Paso's Gerina Mendoza heads into tomorrow's final round atop the individual leaderboard, shooting a 141 for the first two rounds. Mallory Fraiche of Arkansas-Little Rock and Pamela Ontiveros of Oral Roberts closely follow in a tie for second place with 142s.
Theunette Van der Walt currently leads all Lady Colonel golfers tied for 34th place with a 155, while Daniele Dunlop (157) is tied for 43rd place and Natalie Robinson (163) is tied for the 65th spot. Jessica Marquart (172) and Emiley Patton (175) sit in 80th and 82nd place, respectively.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday at the Diamante Country Club.
