September 9, 2006 SHREVEPORT, La. - The Nicholls men's golf team is currently in first place, while the women are tied for fourth place after day one of the Centenary Fall Classic Saturday afternoon in Shreveport.
The Colonels currently hold the top spot on the men's side with a 290, followed by McNeese State (292) and Oral Roberts (294) at Nos. 2 and 3. Louisiana-Monroe (299), Centenary (303) and Chicago State (308) round out the bottom three of the tournament field.
Oral Roberts' Austin Hannah is the currently atop the individual leader boards after carding a 65 in the first round. Centenary's David Viviano (68) is in second, while the Colonels' James Terrebonne is in third with a 69.
Other Colonel golfers, who have placed, include Donny Schmitt (71) who is tied for fifth, Nat Bhanthumachinda (73) tied for the 10th spot, Marco Zirov (77) tied for 20th and Justin Stoski (78) in a tie for 23rd place.
On the women's side, Oral Roberts currently lead the field with a 305. McNeese State (308) and Lamar (317) follow in second and third place, respectively. Nicholls (320) and Louisiana-Monroe tied for the fourth spot, while Centenary (329) and Chicago State (395) fill out the remaining tournament field at Nos. 6 and 7.
Oral Roberts lead the field with two of their players in the top three. Pamela Ontiveros leads the individual boards with a 72, while Christy Carter is in third place with a 74. McNeese State's Tinna Johannsdottir currently holds the second spot with a 73.
Jessica Marquart (76) currently leads all Lady Colonel golfers in fifth place, followed by Daniele Dunlop (80) and Theunette Van der Walt (80) in a tie for 14th place. Natalie Robinson (84) is in a tie for 28th place and Emiley Patton (87) is tied for 31st.
The Colonels and Lady Colonels will resume play on Sunday for the final round of the Centenary Fall Classic.
