LADY COLONELS TO END SEASON AT McNEESE STATE; OCTAVE, BARRY TO PLAY FINAL GAME

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Nicholls senior guards Jamie Octave and Claire Barry will play their final game in a Lady Colonel uniform on Saturday afternoon, as the Nicholls women's basketball team will end the 2006-07 season at McNeese State in game one of a doubleheader. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. at Burton Coliseum, with the men to follow at 3 p.m.

The two squads will be meeting for the 55th time in school history, with McNeese (4-24, 2-13 SLC) holding a 43-11 leading in the overall series. In their last meeting, Nicholls (6-20, 4-11 SLC) survived a late McNeese rally to defeat the Cowgirls, 56-54, in Thibodaux.

Octave leads the way for the Lady Colonels, averaging 16.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The St. James, La.-native is ranked in the top 15 of the Southland Conference in six different categories, including: scoring (second), three-point field goals made (sixth), three-point field goal percentage (ninth), steals (11th), free throw percentage (11th) and blocked shots (T-12th).

Barry, who began her career at Nicholls as a walk-on five years ago, and has now earned her way into a starting role, adds another 12.0 points for the Lady Colonels. A native of Sulphur, La., Barry currently ranks second in the Southland Conference in free throw percentage, and seventh in three-point field goal percentage.

McNeese State is led by sophomore guard Courtnee' Hollins. Hollins averages 10.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Junior guard Brittany Boone contributes 4.1 assists per game, while juniors Jessica Hooker and Reeshimah Davis average 5.0 boards per game.
