October 9, 2006 LUFKIN, Tex. - After playing two rounds on Monday, the Nicholls men's golf team is currently in 12th place at the SFA Crown Classic at the Crown Colony Golf Course in Lufkin, Texas.
Baylor holds the top spot with a 574, followed by Sam Houston State (586), Wichita State (592), Oral Roberts (592) and UMKC (593) to round out the top five.
Texas-San Antonio is in sixth place with a 594, while Middle Tennessee State (595), Stephen F. Austin (600), Texas-Pan American (601) and Missouri State (604) fill out the top 10.
Arkansas-Little Rock (607), Nicholls (614), McNeese State (623) and Central Arkansas (631) finished at Nos. 11-14, respectively. Texas State did not finish as one player withdrew from competition and another was disqualified.
Baylor's Bill Allcorn won the playoff over Oral Roberts' Mauricio Tamez to currently hold the top spot with a 137. Wesley Williams of Baylor and Wichita State's Connor McHenry are tied for third place with a 139.
Nat Bhanthumachinda (146) currently leads all Colonel golfers in a tie for ninth place. Marty Reed (152) is tied for 40th place, followed by Donny Schmitt (153) tied for 43rd place, James Terrebonne (163) tied for the 71st spot, and Brandon Henry (173) in 77th place.
The tournament will conclude with 18 more holes tomorrow.
