D'Marr Suggs begins his second season as an assistant men's basketball coach for the Plainsmen. Suggs helped lead the Plainsmen to a 34-2 overall record and a 7th place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2006-2007. Suggs made the jump to the junior college level from St. Paul Johnson High School where he coached the Junior Varsity to two conference championships and helped lead the varsity to its first appearance in the state tournament in 82 years. A graduate of Johnson High and a native of St. Paul, Suggs signed with Merritt Junior College in Oakland, CA, where he received his Associate's Degree in Social Behavioral Science. In his second year at Merritt, Suggs led his team to its first conference championship in 25 seasons. Suggs moved on to play Division I, college basketball at Idaho State University where he earned a B.S. in Physical Education. There, he was a first-team, All-Big Sky selection and team MVP after his standout senior season.
