Washington, D.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team (4-3) won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to a 7-0 road win at Atlantic 10 foe George Washington.
The 49ers cruised in all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte's Ashleigh Murray and Ofra Friedman defeated George Washington's Tracy Stecko and Kendall Swenson, 8-1. At number two doubles, Charlotte's Koren Fleming and Ali Piacente defeated George Washington's Madhuri Jha and Mara Frisch, 8-3. At number three doubles, Charlotte's Kathy Robey and Yana Stoeva defeated George Washington's Rachael Honig and Leah Woodard, 8-1.
The 49ers won all six singles matches easily to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte's Friedman defeated George Washington's Anastasia Skavronskaia, 6-4, 6-0. At number two singles, Charlotte's Robey defeated George Washington's Swenson, 6-0, 6-2. At number three doubles, Charlotte's Piacente defeated George Washington's Stecko, 6-2, 6-3. At number four singles, Charlotte's Murray defeated George Washington's Jha, 6-1, 6-0. At number five singles, Charlotte's Stoeva defeated George Washington's Frisch, 6-3, 6-2. At number six singles, Charlotte's Fleming defeated George Washington's Honig, 6-4, 6-4.
The 49ers return to action at Wofford, Thursday, March 16.
