CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team went 19-for-19 from the free throw line in the final 10 minutes and shot .636 from three-point land for the game to knock off TCU, 81-67, Friday night at Halton Arena. The Horned Frogs, who entered the game one vote shy of cracking the top 25 in the latest coaches' poll, were sent on to their next game with their first ever Conference USA loss.

"This is a huge win for Charlotte," head coach Katie Meier said. "It's the way we won that makes it special. I told the team before the game that I trusted our defense, but they needed to score in the 70s if we were going to beat them. TCU is a very good scoring team and to our players' credit the answered the challenge."

Alicia Abernathy posted her second-straight double-double and fifth of the year to lead Charlotte (10-8, 2-3 C-USA). She finished the night with 23 points, one off her career-high, and 10 rebounds. The rest of the 49ers' guards came through as well. Monica League notched a her career-high with 16 points, including an 8-of-8 showing from the line in the second half. Peaches Harris matched her season-high with 15 points, while Brandy Patterson poured in 10 for the Niners' cause.

Grace Gantt was the leading scorer for TCU (14-4, 4-1 C-USA) with 20 points. Kati Safaritova and Ebony Shaw also cracked double figures with 17 and 11, respectively.

The Niners return to action Sunday, when they host Houston at 2:00 in Halton Arena. All youth will be admitted free for the game. Adult admission is $5.
