St. Louis, MO - The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team (12-5, A-10: 5-1) behind five double-figure scorers and blistering shooting from the floor, cruised to an 86-57 road win at Saint Louis. The victory was the 49ers fourth straight and moved them into a tie with three other one loss teams at the top of the Atlantic 10 standings.

"It was another exciting win for our team," Charlotte coach Amanda Butler said. "I am getting tired of saying this but we overcame adversity again with Pam Brown missing the entire second half due to an ankle injury. If you would have told me that we would beat someone by 29 points without Pam for the entire second half I would not have believed you. I am pleased that other people stepped up. Andrea Davidson having 10 assists is incredible. We had five double-figure scorers led by Sabrina Gregory's 16 points. We outrebounded them as well. I am very pleased with our effort."

Gregory recorded her second straight spectacular shooting game. She scored her 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor. Over the last two games, Gregory has scored 36 points while going 18-for-23 from the floor. Tameka Smith tallied 14 points on 7-for-8 shooting. Krystion Obie scored a season-high 13 points by going a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the line. Sakellie Daniels scored 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field. Danielle Burgin posted her third double-figure scoring game of the season with 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the floor. Davidson led the 49ers with a career-high 10 assists.

The 49ers shot a blistering 59.4% (38-for-64) from the field. Charlotte's defense forced 18 turnovers which led to 25 points while holding Saint Louis to 30.6% (19-for-62) from the field.

The first 12 minutes of the game, the score remained very close with three ties and Charlotte's largest lead being12-6 at the 14:14 mark. With the 49ers leading 20-17 at the 8:51 mark, Charlotte would go on a 10-2 run taking their largest lead of the half, 30-19 at the 4:20 mark. Daniels, Brown and Davidson scored during the 49ers run.

Saint Louis would cut Charlotte's lead to nine points two times over the next minute but that would be as close as the Billikens would get the remainder of the game. Daniels made the halftime score, 40-28, after connecting on a jump shot with six seconds left in the half.

In the second half, Charlotte's offense would explode on a 26-6 run over the first eight minutes of the half blowing the game open by the score of 66-34. Courtney Williams, Gregory, Obie, Daniels, Davidson, Burgin and Smith scored during the run.

Saint Louis would cut the Charlotte lead to 21 points three times over the next eight minutes but that would be as close as the Billikens would get.

Then, Burgin and Smith concluded the scoring for both teams with baskets in the final minute and half of the game making the final score, 86-57.

Charlotte concludes the month of January with two home Atlantic 10 contests. First, the 49ers battle Richmond, Friday, January 27 at 7 pm. Then, they conclude the month when they host A-10 leader La Salle, Sunday, January 29 at 12 pm.
