CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team defeated instate foe Gardner-Webb, 5-2, at the D.L. Phillips Tennis Complex. With the win, the 49ers improve to 7-10 on the season.
Gardner-Webb won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Marlo Santoso and David Bolin defeated Gardner-Webb's Ilija Sekulic and Bryan Edmonds, 8-5. In number two doubles, Gardner-Webb's Michael Osborne and Daniel Abrahao defeated Charlotte's Stuart Lynas and Jonathan Vencatachellum, 8-3. In number three doubles, Gardner-Webb's Phil Skelton and Kern Phillip defeated Charlotte's Jess Rutledge and Jean-Michel Werk, 8-3.
The 49ers won five of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Arturo Aguirre defeated Gardner-Webb's Edmonds, 7-6, 6-0. In number two singles, Gardner-Webb's Sekulic defeated Charlotte's Santoso, 7-6, 7-5. In number three singles, Charlotte's Jonathan Clark defeated Gardner-Webb's Skelton, 6-1, 6-3. In number four singles, Charlotte's Christofer Boman defeated Gardner-Webb's Phillip, 7-6, 6-1. In number five singles, Charlotte's Bolin defeated Gardner-Webb's Abrahao, 7-5, 6-1. In number six singles, Charlotte's Lynas defeated Gardner-Webb's Osborne, 7-5, 7-5.
