CHARLOTTE, NC - The men's tennis team lost to nationally ranked East Tennessee State in a hard fought match, 4-3. The 49ers return to action on Thursday, Apriol 4 as they host cross-town rival Davidson.
East Tennessee State swept the doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Ola Jonsson and Joakim Peterson lost to East Tennessee State's Pavlovich and Fernandez, 8-4. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Marlo Santoso and Jonathan McGovern lost to East Tennessee State's Sahagun and Salazar, 8-4. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Jacob Nordwall and Jess Rutledge lost to East Tennessee State's Iglesias and Serrano, 8-6.
Charlotte won three of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Ola Jonsson defeated East Tennessee State's Pavlovich, 6-0, 1-6, 6-2. In number two singles, Charlotte's Jacob Nordwall defeated East Tennessee State's Fernandez, 7-6, 7-6. In number three singles, Charlotte's Joakim Peterson lost to East Tennessee State's Iglesias, 6-3, 6-2. In number four singles, Charlotte's Jonathan McGovern lost to East Tennessee State's Sahagun, 6-2, 6-2. In number five singles, Charlotte's David Bolin lost to East Tennessee State's Salazar, 6-1, 6-2. In number six singles, Charlotte's Jonathan Clark defeated East Tennessee State's Serrano, 7-6, 4-6, 10-8.
