Men's Soccer Faces #6 Saint Louis In The C-USA Tournament Finals

Charlotte faced Saint Louis in their other appearance in a Conference USA Tournament final

Nov. 15, 2003

MEMPHIS, TN - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team faces regular season Conference USA co-champion #6 Saint Louis in the finals of the Conference USA Tournament, Sunday, November 16 at 2 pm eastern time (1 pm CT).

"We are very excited about playing for the Conference USA Tournament championship," Charlotte coach John Tart said. "Our objective coming into the Tournament was to be playing for the championship. We will face a very strong and talented Saint Louis team in the finals."

The 49ers, who were the fourth seed in the tournament, reached the finals as a result of a 2-1 win over fifth-seed USF and then a 1-0 win over top-seed regular season co-champion #20 Cincinnati in the semifinals.

Charlotte's three goals in the Conference USA Tournament were scored by Mira Mupier, Michael Rose and Evan Harding. Mupier's goal was his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Harding's goal was his third of the season. Rose's goal was his first of the season.

Charlotte has a 5-6-2 record in Conference USA Tournaments entering the Championship game. The 49ers reached the finals of the very first Conference USA Tournament in 1995. Charlotte also faced Saint Louis in the 1995 finals. Saint Louis defeated the Charlotte, 2-0, in those finals.

The Championship game will be aired live in Charlotte on Time-Warner Cable Channel 22 (The UNC Charlotte channel).
