Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team (8-3-2, A-10: 4-0) puts their seven game unbeaten streak on the line when they battle Richmond (6-5-2, A-10: 3-0) for first place in the Atlantic 10 at Transamerica Field, Saturday, October 14 at 7 pm.
The 49ers have not lost a game since September 10 and have posted six wins and a tie over the seven game stretch. Last weekend, the 49ers posted A-10 home wins over La Salle (1-0) and George Washington (2-0).
Senior midfielder Michael Rose leads the team in scoring with four goals, four assists and 12 points. Twelve players on the 49ers roster have scored at least one goal this season.
The 49ers defense has been stout this season particularly over the last six games where they have only allowed one during that stretch. Freshman goalkeeper David Martin, who has earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice this season, has posted five shutouts and has a 0.87 goals against average.
This game will mark the third meeting between the two teams. The two teams tied, 0-0, in their last meeting at the University of Richmond, October 22, 2005.
Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $2 for youth (17-and-under). All Charlotte 49ers students with a valid student ID are admitted free.
