Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers men's soccer senior forward Adam Ruud has just signed a pro contract with the Charlotte Eagles. He will become the 23rd different 49ers men's soccer player to play professionally.
"We are excited about having Adam on our team," Charlotte Eagles head coach Mark Steffens said. "We have scouted Adam quite a bit over the past couple of seasons and we really liked him. What stood out most for me about Adam was his love of the game, his intensity and his pace. He is a very good finisher around the goal. We are really excited about having his attacking ability on our team."
Ruud earned second-team NSCAA All-South region honors this past season. Ruud, who earned third-team All-South region honors in 2004, is only the sixth different 49er to earn All-South region honors twice in their career.
He earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors this past season. In 2004, he earned first-team All-Conference USA honors.
He finished the season tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 with eight goals. In only two seasons with the 49ers, he recorded 19 goals including five game-winning goals. He finished his career with six assists and 44 career points.
