Men's Soccer Falls On The Road At #16 NC State

The 49ers finished the game with 13 shots

Raleigh, NC - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer dropped a hard fought highly contested road game at #16 NC State, 2-1, at the SAS Soccer Park.

The Wolfpack struck first when Aaron King scored off a John Queeley assist at the 31:26 mark giving NC State a 1-0 first half lead.

Just minutes into the second half, King recorded his second goal of the game off an Ernesto Di Laudo assist at the 48:10 mark of the match.

Charlotte cut the NC State lead in half when one of their corner kicks bounced off a NC State defender and past goalkeeper Jorge Gonzalez for an own goal at the 84:44 mark.

The game was evenly contested the entire night with NC State finishing the game with a 14-13 shot advantage. Adam Ruud led the 49ers with three shots. Floyd Franks, Chris Arnold, Evan Harding and Pete Palomino each had two shots for Charlotte.

Daniel Burk recorded a season-high eight saves for Charlotte.

The 49ers return to action when they host UNC Asheville in their final non-conference game at Transamerica Field, Saturday, October 1 at 7 pm.
