Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers junior golfer Andrew DiBitetto (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year in men's golf. This is the second straight year that a 49er has claimed the honor since senior Ray Sheedy was named A-10 men's golf student-athlete of the year in 2006.
DiBitetto was joined on the A-10 all-academic team by junior teammate Jonas Enander Hedin (Taby, Sweden). This marked the second straight season that DiBitetto and Enander Hedin have been named to the A-10 academic all-conference team.
DiBitetto and Enander Hedin played integral roles in helping the 49ers capture their second straight Atlantic 10 Championship.
DiBitetto placed second at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship, with a career-low 12-under par 204 (67-71-66) over the 54-hole event. For third time in three years, DiBitetto earned All-Conference honors, garnering first-team honors in 2006 and 2007 after earning second-team Conference USA honors in 2005.
DiBitetto maintains a 3.67 grade point average as a business management major.
Enander Hedin leads the team with a 71.9 stroke average. He finished tenth at the A-10 Championship to earn all-conference honors.
Enander Hedin has a 3.88 grade point average as a business management major.
DiBitetto, Enander Hedin and the rest of the 49ers golf team return to action at the NCAA East Regionals in Alpaharetta, Georgia this weekend, May 17-19.
