Wiedergruen Named A-10 Golfer of the Week

Sophomore Posted First Career Tournament Victory

April 4, 2007

Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers sophomore Stefan Weidergruen (Waiblingen, Germany/Salier Gymnasium) has been named the A-10 Men's Golf Performer of the Week, for the week ending April 1. Wiedergruen won medalist honors at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational, Mar. 26-27, by shooting a -2, 142 at the 36-hole event.

Wiedergruen, competing as an individual at the event, posted rounds of 73-69 for a two-round total of -2, 142, four strokes better than the rest of the 66-player field. The tournament victory was the first in Wiedergruen's short career with the 49ers. Charlotte did not compete as a team at the event.

Wiedergruen is the fifth different 49er to be named A-10 Player of the Week, this year. Trevor Murphy, Ray Sheedy and Jonas Enander Hedin were all named A-10 Golfer of the Week in the fall semester and freshman Corey Nagy was named A-10 Golfer of the Week, Mar. 19. Nagy also owns two A-10 Rookie of the Week Awards.
