Florence, S.C. - Freshman Trevor Murphy, who is competing as an individual at the Raines Development Intercollegiate, has a three-stroke lead in the event following the first day of play. Murphy, at one-under 143, shot rounds of 72-71 to lead a pack of three players (Ryan Bates, Belmont Abbey; Jeremy Kirkland, Coastal Carolina; Jamie Kennedy, Jacksonville) at +2, 146. Charlotte sophomore Matt Mincer is tied for fifth at +3, 147 after posting rounds of 75-72.
The 49ers, whose lineup includes a pair of newcomers, are currently 11th in the 13-team tournament. Mincer leads the 49ers team scoring, followed by senior Andy Elseman and sophomore Ray Sheedy, who both carded two-round totals of +10, 154. Freshmen Andrew DiBitetto (81-79 -- 160) and Jonas Emander Hedin (81-83 -- 164) rounded out the 49ers lineup.
The third and final round will be played Tuesday.
