Charlotte Rallies To 6th Place at NCAA Regional

Niners Post Second-Best Round Of Day; Mincer Leads Way

Orlando, Fla. - The Charlotte 49ers posted the second-best round of the day to climb into a tie for sixth-place after two rounds at the NCAA East Regionals at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. The top 10 teams advance to the NCAA Finals. The third and final round will be played Saturday.

Charlotte shot a +2, 290, which was the second-best round of the day and helped vault the Niners from 14th-place to sixth. Coastal Carolina had the best round of the day at even-par 288 and stands tied with Charlotte at +13, 589. Top-ranked Georgia retained its lead, shooting a +6, 294 for a two-day total of +2, 578. UNLV (+4, 580) and Wake Forest (+5, 581) are second and third.

Junior Matt Mincer again led the 49ers, shooting a -2, 70 for a three-day total of -3, 141. Andrew DiBitetto added an even-par 72 and Trevor Murphy shot +1, 73 as Charlotte made a key move in round two.

"The great thing about this team," said head coach Jamie Green, "is that you never know who will play the best from week to week. It's fun for Matt to play well and definitely helpful to the team. I have no doubt that all the guys will contribute tomorrow. If we play with our thinking caps on we should be OK and that's something we've done all year."
