John Knuckles of Charlotte, N.C., asks:
"My question is not really regarding this season but next season (the next
two recruiting classes). As I understand it, Cam and Jermaine are both
seniors. What are our prospects for post players to help Tory over the next
two seasons?"
Coach Lutz:
We have Calvin Clemmons who will be a redshirt junior next season. Calvin is
6-8, 240 lbs. and bench presses 375. We also signed Curtis Withers from West
Charlotte and expect to sign two additional post players in April. Thanks
for your support.
Gibson Ledford of Vale, N.C., asks:
"Will you be having a basketball this summer? Where can I get information on
the camp?"
Coach Lutz:
We have two weeks of individual camp - June 9-13 and July 28 - August 1.
Just call (704) 687-4939 for more information.
David Rivers of Milwaukee, Wis., asks:
"I was wondering about the addition of Chris Sager as he will obviously play
a major role in your offense with the loss of Jobey Thomas. How is he
adapting to your style of play? And what can we expect to see from him next
year? Best of luck for the rest of the year coach."
Coach Lutz:
Chris has had a good year in practice. He is an excellent shooter and
understands the game. Chris is working hard on the weights and on his
agility which will help him defensively. Remember, he will only be a
sophomore but Chris has a chance to be a good contributor.
Scott Myers of Charlotte, N.C., asks:
"Once the new Miltimore-Wallis Center is completed, how it will help in the
recruiting process? Does it help that you can show prospective players that
if they come here they will have state of the art facilities to work out,
practice, and excel academically in? Keep up the excellent work, best of
luck and GO NINERS!"
Coach Lutz:
While the new Miltimore-Wallis Center will aid recruiting, it is important
to us because of the daily benefit our current players will derive from it.
Having the academic center, being able to practice, get extra shots in
privacy and having offices there will make it very convenient for our
players.
Patrick Bateman of Charlotte, N.C., asks:
"It appears Eddie Basden has started to play really well as the confrence
season winds down. He is a great perimiter defender and probably is the best
athlete on the team. But in terms of offense, does he have the skill to
match his athleticism?"
Coach Lutz:
Eddie has grown as a player this season. You need to understand that he
played in the post on his high school team, therefore, he is gaining
confidence facing the basket. I fully expect him to be an improved offensive
player next year. We will adjust our style to allow him and others to drive
the ball more than we ever have here. Thanks."
