Halton Arena - Charlotte 49ers senior forward De'Angelo Alexander (Midwest City, Okla.) was named third team all-Atlantic 10 in a vote of the league's coaches. Alexander, who ranks fourth in the A-10 in scoring and ninth in rebounding, earned his second all-league honor. He was named first-team all-Atlantic 10, last season.
Alexander leads the 49ers with a 17.7 scoring average and is second on the team with 7.2 rebounds per game. He is one of two players in the A-10 that ranks in the league's top 10 in both scoring and rebounding. First team choice Ahmad Nivins, of Saint Joseph's, is the other.
Earlier this season, Alexander became the 21st player in school history to record 1000 career points and just the fifth player to do so in just two playing seasons. He currently ranks 19th all-time for the 49ers in scoring. Alexander netted a career-high 35 points in the 49ers victory over Fordham -- just the second time that a 49er has scored 35 or more points since 1991.
Alexander has also cracked the school's all-time top 10 in three-pointers made and currently ranks eighth with 172 treys.
He scored 20 or more points 11 times this season and added five double-doubles.
Charlotte, seeded #9 in the A-10 Tournament, will face #8 seed Dayton, Wednesday at 12:00 noon at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
