GW won last year's meeting at Halton Arena, 83-69. GW is 3-0 vs. Charlotte as A-10 foes. Bobby Lutz is 4-4 all-time vs. GW. The 49ers are 3-2 vs. the Colonials at Halton Arena.

The Game: The Charlotte 49ers (13-14; 6-8) will look to even their record as they face Atlantic 10 rival George Washington (Thurs., Mar. 1, 7:00 p.m. -- ESPN2). Charlotte owns a four-game home winning streak and has won four of its last six games. The 49ers will celebrate Senior Day for their six departing seniors: De'Angelo Alexander, Antwon Coleman, E.J. Drayton, Travis Gordon, Jerell Jamison and Courtney Williams. In addition, junior Leemire Goldwire has closed to within five points of 1000 in his career. Goldwire, who has scored 20 or more points in the last two games and six A-10 games, overall, would become the 22nd 49er to join the 1000-Point Club and the second to do so this seasson (De'Angelo Alexander reached 1000 vs. Duquesne, last week). The George Washington game opens the 49ers final regular-season homestand. They host St. Bonaventure (Sat., Mar. 3 - 7:00 p.m.) in their regular-season finale.

Next Game: Charlotte concludes its regular season at home vs. St. Bonaventure, Sat., Mar. 3 (7:00 pm.).

GOLDWIRE Within Five of 1000: Junior Leemire Goldwire scored 26 points at Temple, giving him 995 career points -- 5 shy of becoming the 22nd 49er in school history to reach 1000 points and the second to do so this season.

HOT GOLD: Leemire Goldwire, who had back-to-back 20+ games, last week (22 @ Duquesne; 26 @ Temple), has scored 20+ points six times in A-10 play (4 of the last 8). He is averaging 16.5 points in A-10 play, shooting .460 from three-point range.

Keep your EYE ON "THREE"-Mire: Leemire Goldwire (995 career points; 202 career threes) needs 5 points to reach 1000 and 9 three-pointers to tie Brendan Plavich (211) for 5th all-time in career three-pointers made.

20-Somethings: In the last eight games, a 49er has scored 20 or more points seven times: E.J. Drayton scored a career-high 26 vs. La Salle. Leemire Goldwire has scored 20 or more four times in those eight games, including 25 vs. both La Salle and Richmond and back-to-back 20+ outings vs. Duquesne (22) and Temple (26). De'Angelo Alexander scored a career-high 35 vs. Fordham and 29 at Duquesne.

"THree"ANGELO HEATING UP: In the last five games, De'Angelo Alexander is averaging 21.4 points and 8.4 rebounds while shooting .446 (37-of-83) from the floor and .375 (15-of-40) from long range. He's hit double-figures in each game, including a career-high 35 against Fordham (the 2nd time since 1991 that a 49er has scored 35 or more points). He netted 29 at Duquesne, scoring his 1000th point, and he added 19 points against UL-Lafayette; 13 with 9 rebounds at Rhode Island and 11 at Temple.

Alexander Joins 1000-Point Club: With his 29-point effort at Duquesne, De'Angelo Alexander surpassed 1000 career points. He became the 21st player in school history to reach the plateau and the first to do so since Curtis Withers and Eddie Basden joined the club in 2005. He is also the fifth 49er to reach 1000 in just two playing seasons (Henry Williams, Lew Massey, Robert Earl Blue and George Jackson.)

Drayton Doubling Up: E.J. Drayton, who has four double-doubles in A-10 play, has posted seven double-doubles, this year: His 16-point; 13-rebound double-double against UMass was just the second double-double recorded against UMass' Rashaun Freeman and Stephane Lasme. The 13 rebounds in that game also matched his career-high set in the first two games of he season.

ICE, ICE, Baby: Leemire Goldwire, who ranks 2nd in the A-10 with a .900 FT%, is especially good in the clutch:
vs. Hofstra: 10-10 FT in final 67 seconds
vs. La Salle: 6-6 FT in final 31 seconds
vs. Fordham: 8-8 FT in final 44 seconds
His perfect 10's (or more), this year:
12-of-12 vs. Hofstra
10-of-10 vs. La Salle

RARE AIR: De'Angelo Alexander, who ranks 4th in the A-10 in scoring (17.9 ppg) and 8th in rebounding (7.2 rpg) is one of just two players that rank in the league's top 10 in both catagories: Ahmad Nivins, Saint Joseph's: 9th in scoring (16.2); 6th in rebounding (7.4)

A-10 Stat LEADERS:
De'Angelo Alexander is 4th in scoring (17.9)
