CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Kevin Lisch scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead the Saint Louis Billikens to a 77-74 win over Charlotte 49ers on Saturday night.
The Billikens trailed by four points with under three minutes to play, but outscored the 49ers 10-3 down the stretch.
Anthony Drejaj and Tommie Liddell each scored 13 points to help lead Saint Louis (16-10, 10-4 Atlantic Ten Conference).
Charlotte (17-10, 10-4) was led by 19 points by Curtis Withers and De'Angelo Alexander chipped in with 18.
Charlotte led by four with just over four minutes left in the game when Dwayne Polk, a 16 percent 3-pointer shooter on the season, came off the bench when Lisch picked up his fourth foul and knocked home a 3 from the corner to pull the Billikens within one.
Luke Meyer hit a pair of free throws to give Saint Louis the lead at 72-71. After a Charlotte turnover, Saint Louis center Ian Vouyoukas scored from the deep post and Liddell hit a free throw to push the lead to four.
Charlotte pulled back to within one when Alexander hit a fallaway 3-pointer with 53 seconds left.
Saint Louis nearly ran out of time on their next possession and ended up with a side out of bounds with just two seconds left on the shot clock. But Liddell cut backdoor and ended up with an easy alley-oop layup with 21 seconds left.
Saint Louis built a 32-21 first half lead, outscoring Charlotte 14-2 in the paint while shooting 54 percent from the field. But the 49ers battled back, catching fire from the outside, hitting on 9 of 17 three-pointers to close the first half with a 19-7 run.
Alexander canned a pair of 3-pointers and Mitchell Baldwin, Goldwire and Withers also hit from long range to give the 49ers a 40-39 lead heading into the break.
