FORT WORTH, TX - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team concluded their season with a 9-7 loss at TCU.
Thomas Bowker connected on a hit with a team-high two RBI in his final college game. Adam Willard paced the 49ers with two hits in the game.
Charlotte took their first lead of the series with two runs in the first inning. Bowker scored the game's first run on Randall Poplin's double to left center field. Then, Poplin scored the inning's other run on a TCU fielding error. Charlotte's two runs in the first inning marked the first time since the Cincinnati game on May 9 that the 49ers have scored a run in the first inning.
Then, the 49ers added three runs on three hits in the second inning. Adam Floyd plated the inning's first run when Bowker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Then, Michael Roane scored on Jamie Rusco's infield single. Cory Lane scored the inning's final run on a TCU passed ball.
TCU got back in the game with three runs on two hits in the bottom of the second inning. Austin Adams, Chris Neuman and J.J. Estrada scored for the Horned Frogs.
TCU then tied the score, 5-5, with a couple of runs on three hits in the fourth inning.
TCU took the lead for good with three runs on three hits in the sixth inning. Chad Huffman and Bo Cogbill scored the first two runs of the inning on two Charlotte fielding errors. Then, Adams scored the final run of the inning on Chris Neuman's double to right center field.
Charlotte tacked on a run when Roane scored on Bowker's final career hit a double to left field in the eighth inning.
TCU scored their final run when Bo Cogbill scored Chris Dahlberg's single to right field in the bottom of the eighth inning.
