Rock Hill, S.C. - A field of runners from 27 schools will compete in Saturday's 16th annual Asics-Winthrop Cross Country Invitational.
The meet also includes a high school girls and boys division that gets underway at 8:30 a.m. The college and university races begin at 9:30 with the 8K men's event followed at 10:15 by the 5K women's run.
Winthrop head coach Ben Paxton says the meet has attracted some of the area's top teams including the Clemson men, the South Carolina women, Appalachian State, the defending Southern Conference women's champion, and High Point, defending Big South Conference men's champions.
The list of university division schools (Gold Division) includes Winthrop, South Carolina (women only), Campbell, VMI, Charleston Southern, South Carolina State, Charlotte, Clemson (men only), Appalachian State, Radford, High Point, and UNC Asheville.
The list of college division schools (Garnet Division) includes: Shawnee State, Coker, Limestone, North Greenville, Belmont Abbey, Presbyterian, Spartanburg Methodist, Erskine, Lander, Lees-McRae, Anderson, Virginia Intermont, Morris, Brevard, and Newberry.
