The 49ers Remember Miller

Miller's teammates remember their time together the past two seasons.

April 16, 2004

Danielle Michelle Miller.

Who knew that three little words could leave such a big mark on so many lives? We knew we had a special teammate when what she did for fun was go to Country Thunder and run around her town. Little did we know we'd be blessed with such an unbelieveable teammate and friend that would fill us with countless memories.

As you all know, teammates share a special bond. We were not just teammates, but through preseason, road trips, early mornings and late nights, 15 girls became a family. You come to know a person, not by them telling you who they are, but by experiencing them through everyday life. Throughout the years, we've shared countless memories that we will cherish forever, and we would love to share a piece of Dani with you.

With Dani around, there was never a dull moment. If any of you have been blessed enough to share time with her, I'm sure you've realized that she's not your typical girl. Whether she was climbing and falling out of trees, fixing cars or pretending she knew how to fix cars, wearing stinky shoes and having sweaty armpits, she always provided a constant source of entertainment. And although the Lord blessed Dani in so many ways, rhythm was not one of them. She was never embarrassed to show off her dancing skills or lack thereof. Dani was anything but ordinary. While everyone else was flipping through Cosmo, Dani was studying Car and Driver. That's when we knew it was gonna be an interesting ride. While the rest of us were sitting around the lockerroom savoring the last three minutes before practice, Dani was already out playing short court. Her true love for the game is what people love and envy about her. She left her mark not just on us, but on all chalkboards throughout Conference USA. "Dani rules the world" was written loud and proud.

We would like to thank Dani's mom for sharing such a spitfire with us, she is truly a gift from God. Her one request to us was to keep Dani alive. We will always hold her memory in our hearts and feel her spirit on the court. We will live with her laughter in our minds, her smile on our face and her joy in our lives. Dani you will always be our road dog, Danimal, Sally, "instructor", Asian baby and most of all - our hero.
