ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The top men's and women's collegiate divers in the Northeast will be in action this weekend in Navy's Lejeune Hall as they compete at the NCAA Zone 'A' Diving Championship for berths in the upcoming NCAA Championship Meet.

Friday's competition will feature the women's one meter and the men's three meter, followed by the men's one meter and the women's three meter Saturday. The 10-meter platform event for both men and women will be held Sunday. Admission is free to each of the three sessions, with the meet starting at 1 p.m. both Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Divers from each of the 67 schools in the Northeast Region are eligible for this zone championship, with over 50 divers expected to compete. Four divers will advance from this region to the Women's NCAA Championship, March 16-18 in Athens, Ga., as well as to the men's championship, March 23-25 in Atlanta.

Navy's top divers in action this weekend will be junior Kevin Teague (Lexington, Ky.) and sophomore Katie Griffin (Ellicott City, Md.). Teague posted a combined record of 28-2 during the regular season and swept both boards at the recent Patriot League Championship, while Griffin totaled a 22-4 record during the regular season and placed second on both boards at the league meet.

Other schools with top divers expected to compete for NCAA berths are Pittsburgh, Penn State, Princeton and Harvard.

The Naval Academy is one of five sites around the country playing host to a zone diving championship this weekend, with the others taking playing in Lexington, Ky. (hosted by Kentucky), Columbus, Ohio. (Ohio State), Columbia, Mo. (Missouri) and Oklahoma City, Okla. (Air Force).
