Bonafede Adds To List of Weekly Honors

CENTERVILLE, Mass. — Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Bonafede (Burke, Va.) added ECAC Defensive Player of the Week to her list of honors this week, just a day after being named Second-Team All-Patriot League. This is the first ECAC weekly honor for a Navy soccer player this fall.

Bonafede started the week by being named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after guiding the Mids to a pair of shutouts in last week’s action. Navy clipped UMBC (4-0) in nonconference action and followed up with a 2-0 victory at Bucknell Saturday to close out regular-season Patriot League play for the year. The Bucknell win gave the Mids their 15th shutout of the year, setting a school record. The previous mark was 14 set by the 1998 team. Meanwhile, it was Bonafede’s 11th shutout of the year, just 1/2 shy of the Navy record held by Sarah Wilson (1998).

The first-year starter is ranked No. 3 in the nation for her 0.28 goals-against average, and has now played 524-straight minutes since giving up her last goal (did not allow the goal in Monday night’s contest).
