ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy women's soccer seniors Emma Hagen (Annandale, Va.) and Stephanie Parker (Carmichael, Calif.) have been named to the CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District II team announced Friday morning. Hagen, who was named to the first team for the second-straight year, is the first Navy women's soccer player to garner Academic All-District II recognition three years, as she was named to the second team her sophomore campaign. Meanwhile, Parker, who was named to the second team, is a first-time honoree.
The CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District II team is comprised of 23 players, 11 on the first team and 12 on the second team, which honor academic and athletic achievements from institutions in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The 11 first-team honorees will go on to be listed on the national ballot.
Carrying a 3.81 grade-point average in systems engineering while minoring in Chinese, Hagen and the Navy defense held its opponents to a league-low 1.04 goals against this fall, the fourth-lowest GAA in the program's history. The Mids also paced the league in shutouts, producing the fifth most in school history with seven.
Parker, an oceanography major with a 3.46 GPA, is a two-time member of the All-Patriot League First Team and posted the league's fourth-most assists this season. A four-year starter at midfield, Parker produced all eight points on assists this year tying for the 10th-most assists in Navy's single-season record book. Parker, who now appears on the single-season assists list twice, tied the Mids' career record behind a three-assist effort against Holy Cross. She closed her career tied with Nadia Sheikh (1999-02) with 27-career assists.
A four-year starter for the Midshipmen, Hagen is the fifth Navy women's soccer player to earn Academic All-District recognition and Parker the sixth. As previously noted, Hagen earned second-team honors in 2002 and first-team recognition last fall, while Kate Macfarlane and Justine Fisher were named First-Team Academic All-District II in 2001 and both went on to earn Academic All-America status. Meanwhile, Nicole Aunapu was named to the first team in 1997 and '98 and went on to earn Academic All-America accolades in '98. Anne Kipp was named to the district's second team in 1998.
