2006 Navy Women's Soccer Schedule

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's soccer team will play 15 of its 20 regular-season contests at home this fall, including 11 of its 13 nonconference matchups. Among Navy's nonconference slate are a pair of four-team tournaments in which the Midshipmen will play host, including opening weekend when Navy battles Davidson on Aug. 25 at 7:00 pm and Binghamton on the 27th at 3:00 pm.

Navy will move from one tournament to the next, this time traveling south to Stetson. In the program's first trip to the state of Florida, the Mids will face the host Hatters on Sept. 1, before an early evening contest against Jacksonville on Sept. 3.

The Midshipmen will kick off an eight-game home stand on Sept. 8 when they return home to face Southeastern Conference foe LSU at 7:00 pm in Navy's second home tournament. Navy will round out the weekend with a meeting against Butler on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 11:00 am. During the home stand, the Mids will also face George Mason (Sept. 15), Columbia (Sept. 17), Albany (Sept. 22), Siena (Sept. 24) and Mount St. Mary's (Sept. 26) before opening Patriot League play at home on Sept. 30 against American.

Navy will open the month of October with three-consecutive road games, all against conference opponents. The annual Army-Navy Star Game is slated for Oct. 6 at West Point beginning at 7:00 pm. Navy has won seven of the last 10 contests against the Black Knights, including five Star Games. The Mids will close out the weekend with a road contest at Holy Cross on Oct. 8 at 12:00 pm. Navy will play its final road game on Oct. 14 at Colgate beginning at 1:00 pm.

The Mids will play their final five regular-season games in Annapolis, including three league matchups. Navy kicks off the run of five in a row at home on Oct. 16 against Howard (7:00 pm). The Mids will play host to the Patriot League's Lehigh (Oct. 20) and Lafayette (Oct. 22) on the weekend of Oct. 20-22. Lehigh has become one of the premier teams in the league in recent years thanks to three-time Patriot League Coach of the Year Manny Oudin. Navy owns an 8-3-2 record against the Mountains Hawks and is undefeated at home against Lehigh. Meanwhile, the Mids own a commanding 13-1 record against Lafayette, which features 13-consecutive wins by Navy.

For the fourth-straight season, Navy will play national power Penn State who is coming off a semifinal appearance in the NCAA Women's College Cup. The series began in 2003 when the Midshipmen earned their first trip to the NCAA Tournament and faced the Nittany Lions in the opening round. Penn State has won the three previous contests against Navy, though in 2004 PSU needed overtime to nip the Mids. The Oct. 26 meeting (7:00 pm) marks the first time Penn State will play the Mids at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

Navy will close out the regular season with a home contest against Bucknell on Oct. 29 at 1:00 pm. The Bison surprised the Patriot League a year ago by upsetting top-seeded Lehigh by way of penalty kicks in the opening round of the conference tournament before racing past third-seeded Army in the championship to earn an automatic bid to play in the NCAA Tournament.

After missing the Patriot League Tournament last season, Navy will look to be one of the four teams playing in the 2006 Patriot League Tournament set for Nov. 3 and 5. The games will be played at the site of the top-seeded team.
