Crew Results from Head of the Charles
Each of the three Navy crew teams took part in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta, Sunday afternoon on the Charles River in Boston. The Navy heavyweight team saw its varsity four boat place 11th overall and third among collegiate teams with a time of 17:20.33, while the varsity eight boat placed ninth among collegiate programs with a time of 15:54.22. The 'eight' boat had to add 20 seconds to its time due to a penalty on the course. Navy's women's team had its varsity four boat place 17th among collegiate teams with a clocking of 20:56.15, with the varsity eight shell finishing the 2.5-mile course in a time of 18:06.72, good enough for 26th place among college programs. The lightweight team also entered a pair of shells in the regatta. The varsity four boat placed 10th overall and fourth among college teams with a time of 17:55.68, less than one second behind third-place finisher Princeton. Navy's varsity eight boat placed fifth overall and second among college teams with a time of 15:41.32.
