Courtney Davidson Leads The Way On The Patriot League Women's Basketball Honor Roll
Patriot League Announces Women's Basketball Academic Honor Roll
Forty-Nine Student-Athletes Named To The Honor Roll, Led By Navy's Courtney Davidson
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy senior Courtney Davidson, the 2004 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, American senior Katilin Schuyler and Holy Cross freshman Brittany Keil each recorded perfect 4.00 grade-point averages (GPA) during the spring semester. The trio is among the 49 student-athletes named to the 2004 Patriot League Women's Basketball Academic Honor Roll, announced today by Carolyn Schlie Femovich, Patriot League Executive Director.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter or nine spring championship sports.
A total of 806 student-athletes were named to the League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 38 with perfect 4.00 GPAs. The Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor track & field, baseball, golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's outdoor track & field, softball and men's and women's tennis.
American, Bucknell and Holy Cross tied for top billing on the Women's Basketball Academic Honor Roll with eight selections each, followed closely by Colgate and Lehigh with seven honorees apiece. Navy had four student-athletes make the list.
The Patriot League, an NCAA Division I athletics conference founded on the principle of admitting athletes who are academically representative of their class, is in its second decade of academic and athletic excellence. Participation in intercollegiate athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of the undergraduate experience. A successful Division I-AA football conference since 1986 and an all-sport conference since 1990, membership includes American, Army, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy, while six additional institutions hold associate membership. Patriot League member institutions are among the oldest and most prestigious in the nation, graduating alumni who are well prepared for life with the ability to make meaningful contributions to their community and society in general. In the most recent NCAA Graduation Rate Report of student-athletes, the Patriot League ranked FIRST among NCAA Division I conferences.
