Tipping Off
Navy will open a stretch of three-straight and six-of-seven games on the road this weekend with a Friday game at Army, followed two days later by a contest at Lafayette.
Both games can be heard live on WNAV-AM 1430 with Bob Socci calling the action.
A Look Back
Navy earned its first victory of the league season Sunday afternoon with a 73-57 win over Colgate at Alumni Hall. Adrienne Roseti missed tying her career high by one point, scoring a game-high 19 points and hauling in eight rebounds.
Army Preview
Army prepares to play host to Navy with a 1-4 league record and a 9-10 record on the season.
The Series
Navy holds a slim 20-18 advantage in the rivalry with Army.
Road Sweet Road
The road team in the Army-Navy series has had the advantage of late. The 2001-02 season marked only the second time in the 11 years the two teams have faced each other twice in a season that the home team won both games (1994-95).
Prior to last season, the road team had won eight of the last nine games. Navy's loss in West Point last year ended a seven-game road winning streak for Navy, while Army had won in three of its last four visits to Annapolis until last season's loss.
Lafayette Preview
Lafayette enters a Friday night contest against American with a 1-4 record in league games and a 2-16 record on the full season.
The Mids won both meetings with the Leopards last season, but the two games were decided by a total of six points.
The Series
Navy holds a 23-14 advantage in the series with Lafayette and has won four of the last five meetings. Navy's win last year in Easton ended a two-game losing streak for the Mids at the Kirby Sports Center.

Steinmetz Passes Century Mark
By appearing in both of Navy's games last weekend, senior team captain Lisa Steinmetz upped her career games played total to 101. Should she appear in both of Navy's games this weekend, Steinmetz will move into a tie for sixth place for the most games played in a Navy career.
Steinmetz has missed just one game in her nearly four-year career (due to a family commitment), while making 61 career starts in that time.
Davidson Moves Up, too
Courtney Davidson enters Friday's game having started 67 games in her career, the 14th-most starts in Navy history. Davidson has missed just one game in her career (due to an ankle injury) and has started 67 of her 73 career games.

Ready to Serve
Service selection was recently held for seniors at the Naval Academy. On the basketball team, Lisa Steinmetz received the assignment of Marine Corps (Air), while Juliann Flacke will be commissioned as a surface warfare officer this spring.
Flacke will begin her military committment this summer, while Steinmetz will begin her requirement after completing graduate school in December.
Success Off the Court
The academic honors lists at the Naval Academy were recently announced and the women's basketball team was represented by Lisa Steinmetz, Courtney Davidson and Bryanna Herring on the Superintendent's List, the highest honors list at the Academy.
Steinmetz appeared on the Supt's List for the sixth time in seven semesters (made Dean's List in other grading period), Davidson was on the list for the fifth time in five semesters, and Herring received the academic accolade for the first time.
Herring was placed on the List by virtue of her 4.0 GPA.
Vote Undergoes Surgery
Navy's Colleen Vote saw her season come to an end before it ever started. The sophomore guard tore both the medial collateral and anterior collateral ligaments in her left knee in practice Nov. 15. Vote successfully underwent surgery January 16th and will miss the entire 2002-03 season.
Mids Set New Record
Navy converted all 16 of its free throw attempts Dec. 4 at UMBC, setting a new Navy record for free throw proficiency. The 100-percent night topped the previous school standard of 96-percent (24-of-25), set against Delaware Dec. 7, 1998.
Navy joins Army (16-of-16, 1991), Bucknell (18-of-18, 1991) and Lafayette (16-of-16, 2003) as the only schools in Patriot league history to record a 100-percent shooting night from the free throw line (minimum 16 attempts).
The Mids came close to matching its record-setting performance at Ohio, but finished 13-of-14 from the line.
Navy is on pace to set a new school record for free throw proficiency. The Mids enter the weekend having converted 77.0-percent of their free throw attempts, well in front of the current school standard of 73.9-percent (last season).
At the Line
One of the keys to Navy's success this season has been its free throw shooting towards the ends of games. Navy is shooting 77.1-percent from the free throw line -- 88 of 114 -- during the last five minutes of games this season.
Slumping at the End
Navy had outscored its opponents over the last-five minutes of eight of its first 13 games, scoring in double figures in 10 of those games.
Since the start of the Patriot League season Navy has been outscored at crunch time in all five of its league games and has scored in double figures just once. Navy has been outscored in the last-five minutes of its league games by an average of 11.2-6.8 points a game.
Navy Shooting
Navy's offense is connecting on 42.5-percent of its shots from the field this season, tied for the best in the Patriot League and the highest by a Navy team since the Mids recorded a 44-percent mark during the 1988-89 season.

Bryanna Herring
Although she is averaging just the fifth-most minutes per game, Bryanna Herring ranks fourth on the team in points scored, is second in rebounding and first in blocked shots.
The junior is spending just 21.9 minutes per game on the court, but is averaging 9.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, to go along with a team-high 18 blocked shots.
Herring has scored in double figures in 10 games this season, including a 21-point, six-rebound effort against Jacksonville.
Entering this weekend she ranks 13th in the Patriot League in rebounding, is second with 2.83 offensive rebounds per game (a category which she led the league in last season), sixth in field goal percentage (49.3%) and is tied for third in blocked shots (1.00).
Herring is shooting 49.3-percent from the field in her career, the eighth-highest mark at Navy.

Maile Shimoda
Maile Shimoda snapped out of her shooting slump by connecting on 4-of-8 shots from the field and scoring 10 points in Navy's win over Colgate.
Despite her recent shooting, she ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game, and leads the Mids with 4.8 assists per game.
She had the best shooting night of her career earlier this season against Cal Poly. The junior tied a career-high and an Alumni Hall record with six three-point field goals made (on seven attempts), while also shooting 9 of 11 from the field and sinking 3-of-3 free throws. Her 27 points was just one shy from tying her career-best.
Shimoda was named to the all-tournament team at the Navy Classic, which saw her connect on five of six three-point field goals, grab five rebounds, hand out five assists and score 21 points in the title game victory over Fresno State.
In recent back-to-back games she recorded her first career double-double at Ohio (16 points, 10 rebounds), narrowly missing Navy's first triple-double with six assists, then scored 12 of Navy's final 14 points in its victory over Albany.
Shimoda recorded her 700th career point at Ohio and, with 119 career three-point field goals made, she needs just one more to move into fourth place in Navy history.
Team Depth
Navy played at least nine players in every game last season, with 10 or more taking to the court in all but one contest.
This season is no exception as the Mids have used an extended bench in virtually every contest.

Adrienne Roseti
Adrienne Roseti is enjoying one of the best streaks of her career. The junior has hauled in 10 or more rebounds in three of the last five games, while scoring 10 or more points in three of the last five games. She is averaging 12.6 points and 8.6 rebounds during this stretch.
On the season, in addition to ranking second in blocked shots she leads Navy with 7.5 rebounds per game (fifth in the Patriot League), is second with 25 steals, and third with 42 assists. She recorded a career-high six assists against Jacksonville, as well as a career-high tying four steals at Eastern Illinois and against the Col. of Charleston.
The 42 helpers is a new career best (35, 2000-01), while her 25 steals is near her career-best mark of 29, also set as a freshman.
She had one of the more complete games of her career earlier this season against Jacksonville, scoring 12 points, grabbing five rebounds, handing out six assists, blocking three shots, recording two steals and not committing a turnover.
Lisa Steinmetz
Always one of the top defensive players on the team throughout her career, the senior team captain has picked up the offensive part of her game this season.
Steinmetz entered this season averaging 3.8 points a game in her career, but this season she is averaging 5.6 points a game.
Steinmetz began the year by scoring 13 and nine points in Navy's two games at the Bank North Classic, then led the Mids with 23 points at Eastern Illinois, just one point shy of tying her career high of 24 set as a freshman.
Point Guards
Both of Navy's veteran point guards, Lisa Steinmetz and Maile Shimoda, have climbed up several key statistical charts often used to measure the effectiveness of point guards.
Steinmetz stands in 10th place in Navy history for career assists and in ninth for career steals, while Shimoda ranks seventh in assists and 10th in steals.
In career Patriot League assists, Shimoda is in second place with 119, while Steinmetz is in fourth place with 96.
