Navy Men's Cross Country Team Takes Eighth at the Brother John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions

NEW YORK - The Navy men's cross country team took eighth place at the 6th Annual Brother John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions on Saturday, September 30.

Pacing the Midshipmen was freshman Eric Schmidt. Schmidt took 43rd with a time of 25:38.6, edging out teammate Aaron Lanzel's time of 25:38.9. Senior Justin Mikolay came in 45th with a time of 25:45.1.

Other Mids of note were senior Jonathan Hayes and juniors Michael French and Michael Rae. Hayes came in 51st with a time 25:48.4. French finished the course in 25:54.7 for 56th and Rae came in 62nd with a time of 25:59.9.

The Mids competed against two ranked teams, No. 15 William & Mary and the hosts, No. 5 Iona College, along with three other schools that received votes Alabama, Princeton and Dartmouth.

Iona won the meet, while William & Mary came in second. Princeton came in third and Dartmouth fourth. Alabama came in 11th, 27 points behind Navy.

The Mids will head to Bethlehem, Pa. next week to compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
