Men’s Cross Country Places Second at the Indiana State Invitational

Terre Haute, Ind. -The Navy men's cross country team placed second out of eight teams Saturday at the Indiana State Invitational.
The Midshipmen, who placed four runners in the top 10 of the individual standings, totaled 40 points and finished 17 points behind Invitational winner Eastern Michigan.
The Mids were led by senior team captain Barry Carmody (Elk Grove, Calif.), who placed fifth in a time of 25:44.27. Following Carmody in sixth place was sophomore Dan Naughton (Long Beach, N.Y.), as he crossed the finish line with a time of 25:45.15.
Freshman John Olsen (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed up his strong showing last week at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational by placing eighth with a time of 25:51.84. Rounding out the Mids finishing in the top 10 was junior Ty Rose (Germantown, Tenn.) with a 10th-place finish (25:58.86).
Sophomore Michael Niemi (Duluth, Mich.) was the fifth Midshipmen to cross the finish-line which counted towards the team's score. Niemi followed right behind Rose in 11th in a time of 26:00.79.
Navy will be back in action next Saturday when it plays host to the Navy Open at noon at the USNA Cross Country Course.
