Navy Pins East Stroudsburg, 32-7
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.-The Navy wrestling team (7-3) rolled to an easy win Friday night, defeating East Stroudsburg (4-6), 32-7.
"We came out aggressive and controlled the match from the start," said Navy head coach Bruce Burnett. "I thought conditioning was a big factor tonight."
The Mids won eight weight classes, including falls by freshman Brad Canterbury (8-10) at 125 pounds (5:49) and junior Nate Gulosh (16-5) at 141 pounds (2:48).
"Brad Canterbury looked especially good with a fall in the first period," said Burnett. "I also thought Nate Gulosh looked real good."
Navy also got a dominating win from freshman John Cox (11-3), who won by technical fall (19-2, 5:07) at 149 pounds.
The Mids will face a huge challenge Saturday as they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to take on eighth ranked Lehigh (13-3) in a 3 p.m. match. The Mountain Hawks blanked Navy, 37-0, last year in Annapolis.
"We are looking forward to the match with Lehigh tomorrow," said Burnett. "I feel real good about where we're at, at this time of the year."
