Men's Track & Field Team Places 17th; Women 26th at Eastern Championship
Links associated with this release: PRINCETON, N.J. - The Navy men's track team finished tied for 17th out of 48 schools at the IC4A Track and Field Championship at Princeton, N.J. The Mids scored 20 points and ended up tied with Fairleigh Dickinson and William & Mary. Georgetown won the meet by one point, defeating George Mason, 77-76. James Madison finished third (50), Princeton fourth (43) and East Carolina was fifth (39). Army tied for 11th place with 25 points. Navy picked up seven points on the final day of competition as Aaron Lanzel placed third in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:49.87, while Erik Schmidt finished eighth in a time of 3:51.08. The Navy women, on the strength of Amy Baxter's victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Friday night, finished tied for 26th out of 46 schools at the ECAC Championship. Navy's 10 points tied them with UMBC and Providence. Georgetown won the meet with 87 points, while Seton Hall finished second with 60 points and Pittsburgh placed third with 59.25 points. Army tied for 41st with three points. |
