Navy Men's Track & Field Team Has Strong Second Day Of Competition At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Navy men's outdoor track & field team (7-0) began a full day of competition in the prestigious Penn Relays Friday.

The distance medley relay team took third place in their section, running a 9:49.80. The 4x100m took fourth place with a time of 42.14, while the Midshipmen placed sixth in the Heptagonal 4x400m relay (3:18.33).

Among the top individual performances were Brad Schwenzer (Sr./Yardley, Pa.), Jonathan Hayes (Mt. Airy, Md.) and Steve Ranes (Jr./Phoenix, Ariz.). Both turned in top-10 performances in their respective events. Schwenzer cleared 6" 7-1/2", placing tenth. Ranes posted a ninth-place finish with a throw of 51' 1-3/4" in the shot put. Hayes took 10th place in the 3000m steeplechase (8:59.81).
