Mids Wrap Up Texas Relays

Austin, Texas - The Navy men's outdoor track and field team concluded its trip to Clyde Littlefield Texas Realys at Myers Stadium with three top eight finishes. The distance medley relays finished sixth and Kyle Obrock eighth in javelin on Saturday, while the 4x1500m relay was fourth in a late event Friday night.
The foursome of Joshua Sink (So., Welcome, N.C.), Eric Porter (Sr., Brookeville, Md.), Erik Schmidt (Sr., Spokane, Wash.), and Josh McCann (Jr., Magnolia, Texas) finished fourth in a time of 9:51.21 15.10 seconds behind race-winner Arkansas. Obrock was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 60.90m (199'10"). David Taveras (Fr., Cape Coral, Fla.) joined McCann, Schmidt, and Sink in the 4x1500 relay which finished fourth just over one second behind rival Army. Cole Herron (Fr., Sanger, Calif.) finished 13th in high jump with a height of 2.00m (6'6-3/4").
Former Navy runner Aaron Lanzel, who finished seventh in the 1,500 at the Stanford Invitational in 3:45 last week, continued his solid running and push towards the Olympic trials. Lanzel competed in the One Mile Invitational finishing third in 4:04.17. Kip Kangogo won in 4:02.74, while Beanard Manirakiza was second (4:03.81).
The Mids host Colgate and LaSalle on Saturday at Ingram Field at 12 noon.
