The Navy men's track & field team will compete on one of the ultimate stages in its sport this weekend when it competes at the 75th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Thursday-Saturday at the Mike A. Myers Track in Austin, Texas.

The first Mid to take to the track will be junior distance runner Ben Morris (Annapolis, Md.). He is scheduled to compete at 6:50 p.m. Thursday night in the 5000m run. Morris' classmate, Dan Christensen (Medford Lakes, N.J.) will be Navy's only other individual runner to compete in the Lone Star State. Christensen will race in the 3000m steeplechase on Friday night, with the gun scheduled to fire at 10:25 p.m.

Following Christensen's race, the distance medley relay team will showcase its talents at 11:15 p.m. The quartet of Erik Schmidt (So./Spokane, Wash.), Eric Porter (So./Brookeville, Md.), Doug Kay (Sr./Amherst, Va.) and Aaron Lanzel (Jr./Sugar Grove, Pa.) ran to a season-high time of 9:39.17, the 16th-best mark in the nation, in the indoor IC4A Championships last month. The same four runners are scheduled to compete for Navy this weekend.

Four Midshipmen are scheduled to compete in the throwing events this weekend, highlighted by senior Steve Ranes (Phoenix, Ariz.). Ranes will throw in the "B" section of the shot put at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Nathan Michael (So./Coppell, Texas) will take part in the "B" section of the discus, while junior Shannon O'Connell (Clinton Twp., Mich.) and freshman Kyle Obrock (Boalsburg, Pa.) will both throw in the "B" section of the javelin.

Outdoor track captain Tom Delaney (Sr./Philadelphia, Pa.) will look to make his mark in the pole vault Saturday at 4 p.m. Delaney broke his own school record in the event with a leap of 17'3" in last Saturday's 107-88 home victory over Rutgers.
