Ekundayo Sets Personal Record At Relays
Austin, Texas - Senior Adesina Ekundayo (Randallstown, Md.) set a career-best time in the 110m hurdles and senior captain Nate Michael (Pilot Point, Texas) finished fifth in the discus throw Friday to highlight the Navy men's track and field's team second day of competition at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Myers Stadium.
Ekundayo finished 23rd in the preliminaries with a time of 14.57 to set a new personal best breaking his previous career mark of 14.89, which he posted at the 2002 Pt. Loma Invitational. Michael finished fifth in the "B" section finals of the discus with his second longest toss of the season at 52.47m (172'2"). Texas State's Byron Tate won the event with a toss of 56.20m (184'4").
The Mids also completed in the 4x400m and 4x100m relay prelims. The 4x400m recorded a season-best time of 3:16.74 to finish 27th, while the 4x100m unit was 26th in 42.30. Neither relay qualified for Saturday's finals. The 4x1500m relay team was to run late Friday night.
The meet concludes on Saturday with Navy competing in the distance medley relay, high jump, and javelin.
