Men's Track & Field Will Play Host To Rutgers Saturday

The Navy men's track & field team, fresh off it's tri-meet sweep of Ohio and Delaware last weekend, will play host to Rutgers Saturday morning at Ingram Field. The hammer throw will kick off the day's festivities at 11 a.m.

The Mids now have a 3-0 dual-meet record in their outdoor season after scoring 186 points against Ohio (115) and Delaware (66) last Saturday at Ingram Field. Kyle Obrock (Fr./Boalsburg, Pa.) (191'10"), Shannon O'Connell (Jr./Clinton Twp., Mich. (173'8") and Brian Lambert (So./Lancaster, Pa.) (168'4") swept the top-three positions in the javelin, while the Mids also took first, second and third in the discus. Nate Michael (So./Coppell, Texas) won the event with a toss of 158'1", with Steve Ranes (Sr./Phoenix, Ariz.) (152'7") and Brad Wolenhaus (141'8") finishing second and third, respectively.

Daniel Chapman (Sr./Glen Rose, Texas) placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 45'11.75", while Keeson Jurick (Fr./Houston, Texas) completed a Lone Star State one-two finish with his leap of 42'11.5". Chapman (20'0.5") finished in second place behind David Hunt (So./Rochester, N.Y.) (21'4") in the long jump, while the senior tandem of outdoor track captain Tom Delaney (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Bob Koroly (Drexel Hill, Pa.) placed first and second, respectively, in the pole vault. Delaney won the event by clearing a height of 16'6", while Koroly checked in with a 15'6.25" mark.

Rounding out Navy's first-place finishers on the afternoon were Ranes in the shot put (51'7"), Jacob Cahalan (Jr./West Warwick, R.I.) in the hammer throw (172'8"), Daniel Christensen (Jr./Medford Lakes, N.J.) in the 3000m steeplechase (9:20.12), Brian Harrington (Jr./San Jose, Calif.) in the 1500m (4:01.43), Eric Porter (So./Brookeville, Md.) in the 400m (50.30) and Doug Kay (Sr./Amherst, Va.) in the 800m (1:54.38).
