Tennis Team Falls at Richmond
The Navy tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Richmond, Saturday afternoon at the UR Tennis Center in Richmond, Va. The Mids saw their record fall to 6-10 this year, while the Spiders improved to 9-10. "Richmond won the Atlantic-10 championship last season and have everyone back this year," said Navy head coach John Officer. "Their experience showed a little bit today. They played well and we did not play well enough to win." Navy's No. 1 doubles team of Cameron Lickle and Chris McGrath picked up Navy's lone win on the day, defeating Niki Doll and Derek Schwandt, 8-5. The Spiders won the remaining two doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In the singles portion of the match, McGrath lost a third-set tiebreaker, 7-5, to lose at No. 3 singles to Matthew Cabana, while Brandon Carter also lost a 7-5 third-set tiebreaker to Schwandt at No. 4 singles.
