Finnegan Named "Most Outstanding Senior Athlete" at USA Collegiate Championships
Links associated with this release: SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Navy men's gymnastics team concluded its 2002 season with a strong showing in the individual event finals of the USA Gymnastics National Collegiate Championship, led by Dan Finnegan (Sr./Richmond, Va.) who received the meet's "Most Outstanding Senior Athlete" award Saturday evening. After winning the all-around title Friday night, Finnegan closed out his career with five top-eight finishes in the individual event finals at Springfield College's Blake Arena. Finnegan recorded a second-place finish on the rings with a score of 8.75 and placed fifth on the floor exercise with a score of 8.55. He also finished seventh on the pommel horse (8.20) and eighth on the parallel bars (8.10) and on the high bar (8.30). Team captain Tripp Glasgow (Sr./Orlando, Fla.) also capped an outstanding career with a second-place finish on the parallel bars with a score of 8.45, as well as a sixth-place finish on the high bar (8.60). Nick Willet (Sr./Westminster, Md.) posted a score of 8.75 to finish fourth on the floor exercise. On the vault, Drew Barker tallied a score of 8.825 to finished sixth followed by Andy Helchinger (Sr./Stockton, Calif.) in ninth place with a score of 8.40.
